Spring greeting cards

I needed a few cards to send to a few people, so glad I took some time last week to put together my temporary craft area! I headed out to the garage and quickly put together these cards.
I used a few cards from a box of plain white embossed cards from Michael's as my base. I used my bird punch from Stampin Up! with some glittered blue paper for the bird and some DP paper scraps in a green print I had for the branch. Added some ribbon and some buttons then stamped a quick greeting! Easy and quick! Just what I needed!

Spring banner 2011

I finished my spring banner yesterday and wanted to share! I began with green variegated and purple yarn pompoms. I tied the pompoms onto a piece of the green yarn.
I used my Songbird Cricut cartridge to cut out purple and green glittered 3 inch letters. Cut some triangles from an old book and sewed them to the yarn.
I used some little stickers and punches I had on hand to add to each of the letters in different spots. I used flowers and spring/easter animals. I am very pleased with how it turned out!
 What do you think?!

Pretty cute eh?
Thanks for stopping in! Stay warm and get crafty!

Flight with hubby over islands at sunset

The hubby asked me if I wanted to go for a sunset flight with him last night over the islands =) I couldn't resist. It was a gorgeous day, so off we went!
 Close up of Mt Baker.
Over the islands headed toward Victoria Canada.
I couldn't stop taking pictures of the sunset. The colors were just outstanding!
 See? GORGEOUS!
Victoria Canada is between the wing struts the middle island tip. There are three "islands" just to give you an idea.

It was so pretty to see the lights of Bellingham below us and Mt Baker in the distance.
Thanks for stopping by!

"Beach" guest room version one

Had a GREAT weekend with my bestie Kari! Here are a few pics of how the room turned out, so far! I found the comforter on sale at Target... woohoo! Score! It is a soft grey, soo pretty.
I need a few more things on the walls, but will take my time looking at flea markets and antique stores. Found the beautiful white throw on clearance at Pier One.
The light is perfect for the room. As you can see, my handyman didn't get the crown molding up. But hopefully soon!
I am looking for a different table for this side of the room as well. But this one works for now.
This table is one of my favorite buys, it makes me happy to look at. Just needs a new coat of paint still.
I hadn't planned on hanging curtains in here, but am re-thinking that idea. I think the window needs some softening.
Overall, I am pleased. Kari said the bed is very comfy... =)  Who's next?
Thanks again Kari for coming to visit!

New carpet...

We had new carpet installed last week in the living room...
and the "Beach" guest room. It is soo soft! I am thinking of having it installed in the master bedroom too!
The color is perfect! Not too light to show stains, and not to dark to make the room dark.
I am painting the bedroom a pale blue called New Day. It is just a great soft blue. My bestie Kari is coming for a visit on Saturday, so I am moving all the furniture from the "Garden"guest room to this one for now.
This is the light fixture I picked up for the room. I found a great one at Restore for $5.00 that was similar and was going to spray paint it Oil Rubbed Bronze, but the hubby wasn't in favor of that idea and wanted a new one instead. We agreed on this one at Home Depot for $50.00.
I am hoping to have the crown molding installed by my handyman tomorrow since he gets off work early.
Thanks for stopping in today!

Garden guest bedroom part two.

I'm back with a preview of the progress so far on the garden room. Still need to pick up a dust ruffle (why did I take ALL the full size bed stuff to Genna? ha!) I decided to use the rug the previous owners left for us it is perfect and free! The quilt will go at the bottom of the bed when I switch the white comforter from my bed.
Still need to hang stuff on the walls, and the curtains.
Need a stool, a throw and a small pillow for this reading area.
I stole the lamps from my bedroom, I've had my eye on a pair at T J Maxx but knew they wouldn't work in here! Perfect solution, buy them for my bedroom!
The view from the bed of the courtyard, makes me happy.
Spring is coming! That makes me happy too!

Garden guest bedroom.

I am working on decorating one of the guest rooms at the new house, the garden guest bedroom. I have been shopping at a few of the local antique shops and T J Maxx!
I love being able to decorate as cheaply as possible! Such a challenge! I think I have gotten some great buys. May not be everyones style, but it is mine! At least for this room.
I'll be back soon with the room put together!
