I have been adding a little summer decor around my home the last couple days...

 I finally had a couple hours to get crafty in the craft cottage, so I completed my summer specimen art.

 The papers are all from Stampin Up! One of my favorite paper packs.

I added a few pearl details to a couple of the butterflies. I am almost done with a coffee filter wreath I have been working on, I will post pics in a couple days!

Craft cottage mantel

I have been working 2 days straight on cleaning this place up! The hubby decided on Sunday to help me organize the garage... which meant that most of the stuff I had in there, was put nicely piled into the cottage! It's clean now, just in time to play with my friend Jessica on Saturday! Woohoo!

 Thought I would share the felt ruffled heart I created! I am so pleased with how it turned out!

Pedestal fun!

 I have been having so much fun creating the pedestals from glass candleholders from the Dollar store that have been all over blogland!

 This one I used a dollar store candle holder and a dessert plate from Walmart for $3.00.

 This one I used a candlestick from Walmart for $5.00 and a Dollar store plate.

 This one I used a candle holder I already had and a dessert plate from TJ Maxx for $4.00. I am going to give them as gifts to neighbors and the hubbys co-workers filled with homemade Christmas candy and cookies.

 I am also contemplating painting the craft cottage in January, a very light blue and a medium blue. With a checkerboard floor of grey and white. What do you think?

Cottage craft class- Fall

Last month we had a craft class in the cottage. We made fall wreaths from fabric and felt then added silk sunflowers and ribbon. Each wreath turned out so different!

We also made bottles of homemade vanilla and a mini tissue paper pom pom. It was a fun class with great friends! We each brought a brunch item and I supplied coffee, tea, cocoa, and hot spiced cider. 

Our next class is in a couple weeks and is already a full class! We are making Christmas Tags and a pretty glittered tin to keep them in or give it all as a gift. We are each bringing an appetizer to share.

Fall leaf frame

 I loved the fall leaf frame I made for the craft cottage so much I had to make a larger one for the mantel in the house. I used orange burlap behind it and added buttons. I placed in/on a 12x12 frame that I had already painted off white and distressed the edges on. Added more of the scrabble times with the edges inked with distress ink.

Fall crafting 2011

 My friend Jessica and I like to craft. We decided to see if some of our friends wanted to come craft with us once a month.

 We started by having an open house in the craft cottage with a little food, beverage and a couple free make and takes.

 A fall card using bleach and chalk.

 And a Halloween party favor,

 with wrapped Hershey nuggets inside.
We had a great time and received lots of encouragement. In fact we even scheduled more classes. We will be hosting a class in October to make fall wreaths, homemade vanilla and pom poms. In November we will be doing Christmas tags in a tin and Christmas ornaments. We put together all the materials and our friends just pay a small fee for the "kit" and help with bringing food. In October we are having a potluck brunch and November will be a pot luck appetizers!

 This morning Jessica and I got together over Pumpkin Spice Latte's and had our nails done. Then headed to JoAnn for some creative therapy. Above is Jessica modeling her new set of nails with a before shot of our pumpkins.

 We found Glitter Blast! This product is amazingly gorgeous!

 While we were waiting for our Glitter Blast to dry we tore fabric for fall garlands.

 We used torn fabric, felt, ribbon and burlap. So fun to make!

 After Jessica left to spend some time with her hubs, I didn't want to leave the craft cottage quite yet, so I created this fall frame. I used some left over drop cloth from Lowes as the background under the glass of the frame, then used a leaf punch to punch some scraps of patterned paper. On some of the leaves I used distress ink to ink the edges and also inked the edges of the scrabble tiles that I purchased off Ebay. The frame is a $3.00 frame from Walmart. I finished by tying some ribbon, twine and glittered string that I purchased on Etsy. I am so pleased with how it turned out!

DREAM bunting...

 I wanted to quickly share my DREAM bunting/pennant. I picked out some cute fabrics at JoAnn the other day for a few projects around the house. The first one being a bunting above the bed in the beach room.

 I love this fabric soo much I may use it in the laundry room too! Which can I just say quickly, is coming along marvelous! I am loving it! Anyway, I used 3 different fabrics, some of my wrinkle ribbon and a few black letters I had in my stash.

 I decided to keep it simple with not a lot of decorations. I will be making another one for the garden room once I figure out the decor in there.

LOVE! 

I have been working away in the craft studio too, trying to get it together enough to use in the next few weeks. It is coming together... so many things to get done! Ha!

The sun is out this morning, which means I need to get the housework done so I can do a little yard work before the rain tomorrow.

Easy peasy bench recover!

 I have been trying to get the cottage ready for guests. Two of our kids are coming with their significant others tonight! I bought this cute vintage bench a couple years ago and decided to put it in the guest bathroom for guests to put their "things" on while getting ready for the day but the color on the cushion was a little to bright for the space.

 It had been replaced before so it was easy to replace again. I actually love the fabric that was on it, so I decided to just leave it is place, and place my fabric over it.

 I found this great grey velour remnant at JoAnn for only $2.62! Used my the hubbys staple gun easy peasy, done!

Works so much better for the space =)
