Craft night January 2010

My friends from work and I finally got together for a craft night.
We brought our favorite finger foods, and beverages.... we had wine, sparkling cider, and sprite. Spinach dip, with bread, cheese and crackers, shrimp cocktail over cream cheese on crackers,
chocolate fondue with pineapple, bananas, marshmallow, pound cake, strawberries, cherries, pecan tarts, m and m cookies, tapenade with pita chips.
We made three crafts. A desk/refrigerator calendar, perpetual birthday calendar and a quick candy bar wrap!
Please notice the mess on the table, NO crafting is fun without a HUGE mess all around you! Hehe! We did have fun!
This is Jessica and her calendar. (Hi Jessica!) =) *waving* Love the colors she used!
This is Sarah... Jessica's sister, she is an experienced papercrafter! I am so glad you came to play with us!
This is Amber! I love the Victoria Secret look she gave her calendar!
This is Tandy! She likes circles and glitter!
And this is Lisa! Love the butterfly she used on hers!
Thanks girls, I had a really good time and can't wait to get together again!

One little word 2010=Balance

ETA: a friend at work, Andrea wrote out the Balance for me, she did a fabulous job! I love it. All I had to do was mount it and frame it! Thanks Andrea =D

Balance: A desirable point between two or more opposite forces. My one little word for 2010. (Last years word was complete) If you aren't familiar with this idea you can go here to learn more. You can read about my one little word last year here. I think it was pretty successful! So I am trying it again!
Balance= eating a balanced diet =) I desire to be healthy, but I also desire pasta, chocolate, and Vanilla Lattes from Starbucks! But I am getting used to just Lattes instead.

Balance= balance my time, make time for crafting which I LOVE, reading blogs I also LOVE, realizing that the house can wait a day or two so that I can enjoy other things too.

Balance= exercise, we are making a goal of walking every other day!

Balance= I have so many things I want to do to the house, this is the year some of them will get done. I am making a list of one thing every month whether it is painting a room, or pulling up the carpet on the staircase. This summer the outside of the house will get painted! And the downstairs fireplace WILL get a mantle!

Balance= last year we saw ALL of our family members. This year we are headed to Cancun with friends! Vancouver BC for a night without the puppy, and MORE camping! And I am headed to see my sis and my BFF next month, finally!

Do you have a word for the year, or do you have resolutions? I'd love to hear!

My Cricut arrived and a craft brunch with the girls?

I finished the projects that we are going to make for my first craft brunch I am holding with the girls from work. We are going to make a little calendar for their desks, and a birthday calendar. They will get to choose different papers and embellishments, or bring their own! We were going to do it January 16, but I scheduled a photo shoot for the hubby and I so we may change the brunch to the following weekend.
My Cricut arrived on Tuesday! I am so glad I made this purchase! I am loving the things I can make with this toy. It cuts paper, vinyl, fabric and felt.
Scott snapped a picture of me while I was trying to put it ALL together! It is a good thing I have such a helpful hubby, I would not have gotten it put together without his help! LOL!

Hope you had a great weekend! We have been enjoying 60 degree weather!

New craft studio! :)

Yes, I finally decided to make the guest bedroom my new craft studio! :) I loved having a guest bedroom ready for anytime someone came to visit. But we don't have guests very often, and I really needed more space to spread out. This is the view from the hallway looking through the door.
Welcome... come on in! This is looking to the right as you walk through the door. This cabinet is new, bought it this morning... it holds my sewing machine, Cuttlebug and folders, projects I am working on, acrylic blocks. I am still organizing, I will post pictures of the little details later.
ETA you can click on the pictures to enlarge them, and most of the picture frames do not have family pictures in them yet :)
This table holds my inspiration station, cutter, and Clip It Up.

My wonderful desk my sweet and talented hubby MADE for me. Can I offer you some water? Chocolate? Nuts?
I am not completely done yet, but thought I would post a few pics. I need to buy a few white shelves for the wall on the right of my desk. The big green baskets will go in the closet, I need to buy 8 more white photo boxes to go on top of the others. I haven't decided whether I want to put the rain gutter back up for my ribbon or not, so it is leaning in the corner. I will have Scott change out the ceiling light in here with the IKEA chandelier I bought over the summer =D

I still need to paint the awesome 12x12 paper holder my friend Jim made for me. I will paint it white. The plastic drawer cart will be going away. My new CRICUT will be here Tuesday... I am purchasing another one of the cube cases that will go in the spot where the plastic cart is. My Cricut will go on top of it and a few more white shelves will go above to hold the cartridges and accessories. I am needing to make a trip to IKEA next weekend for a couple of the wire curtain holders? I hope you know what I am talking about? I am not sure the correct name for them. I have only seen them at IKEA for about $5.00. I am going to hang cards, projects or scrapbook pages from them using clothes pins close to the ceiling above the window and closet.

I moved all my large punches to behind the door... I really liked the way I used to store them, on curtain rods on the wall, but I am getting too many, so I am trying this instead. I will put all the smaller ones in the empty pockets, just ran out of time this weekend :)

Remember the double desk I bought at the antique fair I went to this summer? Now I can have a friend over to craft with me :) It fits perfectly, I LOVE it!

A few of my favorite things...^^^

Thanks for visiting, come back when you can stay awhile and craft with me!

No guesses?!?

I had no guesses on what I was painting... so I will give you another hint. ^^^ Can you tell what is different in the picture above?
We spent most of the weekend organizing a few rooms in the house, we did no walking, no movies, just cleaning and organizing. It was fabulous :)
Hope you had a great weekend too! Did you do anything FUN?

ETA the candles above are the ones I made at Christmas. I had forgotten to post a picture of them. I bought inexpensive candles, brushed the outside with modge podge, then rolled them in epsom salt. They are very sparkly in real life. I thought I could still use them after Christmas by adding a few shells and beach glass.

Happy New Year! 2010!

Happy New Year!!! We started our morning and year off right! NOT! We had a healthy breakfast of crepes hehe! Not really the healthiest thing, but they sure are good! Scott loves them, and I really don't make them very often for obvious reasons :)
I spent the day doing this! ^ Can you guess what I am painting??? I am hoping to finish and load pictures by Sunday afternoon. I'd love to hear your guesses ;)
We had one of those days, we didn't leave the house ALL day, didn't even get out of our jammies. I painted, Scott worked on computer stuff, it was a windy, rainy day. I did cook prime rib, twice baked potato's, fresh baked bread, and chocolate pudding cake for dessert!
I have a whole lot to say about 2010 too! My one little word and all that, but for now I got stuff to do! So, I will be back later...

Hope you had a great New Years Day!
