Relaxing day....

Well, after moving all the soil up the hill to fill the two garden boxes yesterday, we didn't have it in us to do it again today with bark. So we took a day to just enjoy the back yard, do laundry, clean house, run to Trader Joe's. Scott is taking Amanda and her family flying over the islands, I am hoping he comes back with some pictures.
In the mean time, here are a few more peeks at the back yard! We have corn, pumpkins, cucumbers, zucchini, tomato, jalapeno, kohlrabi, cabbage, beans, peas, lettuce, spinach, carrots, cauliflower, eggplant, and cantaloupe
For herbs we have basil, chives, cilantro, parsley, mint, and oregano. We will probably add rosemary and thyme also.
I planted most of the pots this year in red, white and blue which is very different for me. Usually I am pinks, purples kinda girl. Which I still used on the front porch :)
Hope you had a relaxing day!
If hubby took pictures I will post again later!

Girls evening!

I spent an evening after work with two of my friends from work getting pedicures for Tandy's birthday. We had fun! It was nice to be pampered.
Thanks Alicia and Tandy! It was fun, wanna go again next month? :0

Have a great evening! Happy Birthday Tandy!

Lots of yard work!

Lots of yard work has kept us very busy the last couple weekends! Hard work, but will be nice when it is done. :) We rebuilt the pond and water fall, and discovered we still had 2 fish in there! We thought the raccoons had gotten them all. We weeded around the  pavers on the patio, planted flowers in lots of pots, built 2 raised beds for our garden, and planted the garden!

We aren't done yet though so I can only show you some peeks. Tomorrow we will lay down some bark, and next week end build a fence around the garden to keep out the critters, including our little black one. And build a deck.

We did sneak in some time last night to get Gelato (my first in months) and walk in Fairhaven to the ferry terminal. Oh, and look at the sail boats. :D

Hope you are having a great weekend!

First Sailing Lesson!

This was the view from the living room window when we woke up this morning! WOOHOO! Gorgeous day for sailing!
We drove to Fairhaven, to the Community Boating Center.....
This is us on the water! We learned so much, and I think we could probably manage a small boat ourselves now. We are considering taking a more in depth class next month.

The boat we learned in was a 14 footer. It was perfect for learning! We spent 3 hours on the water. It was beautiful..... I didn't take many pictures, I was learning to Jibe, and Tack ;) Our instructor's name is Sam and he did a great job. I am not the most mechanical minded girl there is, but I understood alot of what he was teaching. He pretty much had us do it all.
When we were done, we picked up Koko, and dinner and headed to one of our favorite places, the Marina!!! Zuanich Point more or less.
I hadn't had enough of boats yet, and I really wanted to spend some time drooling a little!
We walked all the way around the marina, but did not find a sailboat perfect for us.

Scott even let me drive him with the top down today, it was 77 degrees, then he washed my car for me, he's such a nice guy!

Hope your weekend was fabulous too!

Fort Ebey State Park

This is looking toward Port Townsend over the Strait of Juan de Fuca with the Olympic Mountains in the background.
We had a great time in Oak Harbor catching up with Amanda and meeting her hubby Jeremy and son Danny. After moving a few items upstairs and eating a late lunch, Scott and I headed down to Coupeville! Unfortunately, Coupeville was having a race and was really busy, so we didn't stop this time. On our way back up Whidbey Island we stopped at Fort Ebey State Park to walk on the beach and eat some cherries! :) While sitting on the beach we saw a couple Orcas!! They were just lazily bobbing up and over and around.

Each beach we have visited in Washington has different critters. We not only saw the Orcas, but got to see sea urchins in the water too. (The picture did not turn out very well). Above is a picture of the beach.
And here is a pic of the three of us :D Tomorrow we have our first sailing lesson! I can't wait!
I'll be back with pics! Hope you had a great day!

Welcome to Washington State!

I have been working on a few projects, finally! I will have more to post later on in the weekend. We are headed down to Oak Harbor today to help the daughter of some friends of ours in Nevada move in to the neighborhood! The card above is for my friend Kari who is moving to Salt Lake City this month. I have a great sign for her home I will send with this card. :)
This one is for Amanda and her hubby, we will stop and pick up a planter of flowers for the front porch as a Welcome to the neighborhood!

I have also been finishing up Sara's baby shower scrapbook, and Mothers Day gifts.....

Have a great Saturday! I will be back later with pics of Oak Harbor and hopefully Coupeville! :D

Name tags for Jessica

A friend at work is hosting her sisters bridal shower, she wanted to make name tags for all the guests so everyone would know how they knew or were related to the bride. I made up these samples for her. The colors are chocolate brown and light pink, in the picture it looks more green. I am busy, busy trying to finish up (late) Mother's Day gifts, birthday gifts, a scrapbook of Sara's shower to give her next weekend when I go visit her, Father's day gifts and cards.... the list goes on and on, so I guess I better say goodnight and get busy!

Have a fabulous evening!

Happy Mothers Day 2009!

Happy Mothers Day! This is how my Mothers day started..... as you know I have not had a Vanilla no foam Latte in over 3 weeks! So I decided it wouldn't hurt to have one today, with a cranberry orange scone. We will work in the yard today, so I think it will be okay, from what I've read. I've lost 6 pounds so far and have pretty much cut all sugar (of any kind) out of my eating and no white flour, thank goodness for Trader Joes!
These beauties showed up on my door step last night.... they came from the kids. So pretty, I love them, the kids too ;)

Happy Mothers Day to my mom, she taught me how to be a great mom, well person really. She is very fun, caring and creative, and I want to be just like her! Thanks mom, I love you.
And Happy Mothers Day to my mom- in- law! I am so lucky to have a wonderful mom-in-law, she too is fun, caring and creative! You raised a wonderful son. We love you Jeanne!

And again Happy Birthday to my sis Becky!

Hope you all have a wonderful Mothers Day!

More pics of Saturday

Happy Birthday to my sis May 10, her name is Becky.... wouldn't this be fun? I may have to go back for it.
Loved the fish, the flowers and the color of the shop, so pretty.
This is the eagles nest, huge!
How cute is this boat? Love that idea.... maybe I can find one for my front yard.

LaConnor for lunch

We headed to one of our favorite towns for lunch, LaConnor. Of course we had to eat at the Waterfront Cafe. Next time we will try to eat somewhere different, (lots of fun looking ones to choose from) but the Waterfront is sooo good and the clam chowder is the BEST and the view is great too!

Doesn't that look good? I don't usually like clam chowder, so far only two places I have found I will order it, here and Skylarks in Fairhaven! mmmmm good! :p The Alaskan Amber goes nicely with the chowder too.
How about this view? No seaplanes today.... but still beautiful!
Then we took a walk around town and I found this house for sale. Doesn't it say Welcome. I would love it.

Have a fabulous rest of the weekend!
